The Foundation will select two artists about whom more should be known: an historical artist that demonstrates the traditional philosophy and techniques and should be appreciated and a contemporary artist that demonstrates both talent and potential who should be promoted and supported
Historical ArtistEverett Gee JacksonA diversified artist, Alfred Frankenstein referred to him as "one of the finest craftsmen of the lithograph working on this coast. In his paintings, with their monumental figures occupying a space devoid of time and motion, viewers sense an intellectual and esoteric quality. Mr. Jackson has earned an enviable reputation as an outstanding illustrator. | |
Contemporary ArtistJoan HarrisonMs. Harrison has been building her reputation as a painter of home, business and pet portraits. Although she has begun to use photographic sources for her portraits, she chooses the plein-air approach for her landscapes and still lifes. |
